What fractured the Avengers in Civil War was a disagreement over international oversight of the team as well as the registration of superheroes with the Sokovia Accords - a name that derives from the Battle of Sokovia in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, Captain America: Civil War took concepts from the Civil War storyline from the comics and adapted them to the MCU, with the superhero roster at the time dividing in two teams: Team Captain America and Team Iron Man. Team Iron Man as viewers saw it in Captain America: Civil War is no more, as half the team is dead and the rest either switched sides or are no longer part of this universe - so, in reality, Team Cap won out in the end.
